Business

I finally took time off from the Sec 4's busy schedule, to look through the Langlit notes given during English lesson.

I thought my name was quite straightforward and I didn't add in my surname, so I made an assumption that there would not be any mistake.

I was proved wrong. No one was responsible for my assumption.

I am called Goderick. Does a R look like a G to you?

Well, this mistake is considered quite minor. Considering another cause where Biondi had his name as Biondi Bear. I really don't know how did that come about. I need enlightenment for this one.

If you're wondering what is this about, let me tell you.

This is a new private university set up to help prepare Singaporeans to be able to join the workforce when the IR is ready in 2009 to 2010.

The Paris Graduate School of Management (PGSM), founded in 1975, is a renowned higher education institution which offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.

PGSM Group is made up of five undergraduate institutions in the fields of Management and Information Technology.

The Paris Graduate School of Management is an institution under the French Grand Ecole System, and contains not only ESG but also:

1) Ecole Superieure de Gestion Commerce International (ESGCI) - International Business

2) Ecole Superieure de Gestion Finance (ESGF) - Finance

3) and Ecole Superieure Genie Informatique (ESGI) – Computing and IT

The Grand Ecole system can be described as:
1) The grandes écoles (French: great schools) of France are higher education
establishments outside the mainstream framework of the public universities.

2) They are generally focused on a single subject area, e.g. engineering, or management, have a moderate size, and are often quite selective in their admission of students.

3) Employers in France prefer their executive managers and senior people including engineers to come from the Grand Ecole System.

4) President Chirac of France is a product of the Grand Ecole System and not from the
University.

There are more than 3,600 students within the PGSM Group on the group's four campuses in Paris and 14,000 alumni.

All these is a summary of what Paris Graduate School of Management is about. Basically the BBA ( BTMICE ) programme offered by PGSM is only 3 years.

If you were to realise, the in-thing in Singapore right now is BTMICE. This course enables you to get a job when the IR is ready.

If you want to have more information about it, refer to www.pgsm.edu.sg

*It is also found on pg 10 of today's Straits Times.
