For a Special One.

This post is specially meant for Mr Tchen, Form teacher of 3C ' 06.

Dear Mr Tchen,

I hope that you would be able to see this. We've received the e-mail from you and I can't help but keep thinking about what you have done for 3C and what kind of students you have produced under your care and supervision.

Although our class didn't do well for both our sciences, you didn't give up on us. It would have seem that almost any teacher would, but you didn't.

You were patient with us and I know that you will always be. Our Form Teacher, CE Teacher and Physics Teacher. You taught us 3 subjects. There were many times when our class has disappointed you and let you down, with both academic results and even in behavior.

We felt really bad when we knew that you would get into trouble with Mr Tan, especially with that kind of results that we produce under you. Most of us gave in our very best, including myself. However, it still didn't happen. That made us feel worse.

Teachers gave feedback to you about our class, and sometimes were negative ones. You knew you had to do something, but you didn't scold us. You made us reflect instead, you made us think about ourselves and our actions.

Despite all these.. You treated us like adults. You showered care and concern for us. You would award students who did well, and even treated the class candies and chocolate during Children's Day although in secondary school, we don't celebrate it.

You would never reject any of us whenever we needed help, but instead help us with all that you can. You would joke with us when you know that the atmosphere is dead. Even some teachers think that you're special, and yes, you're indeed a special teacher.

There isn't a need for a class of 41 students to prove this fact. 3A' 06 said the same thing also.

Seniors whom you have taught before say the same thing also. I can even name a few whom I know of : Chi Wen, Ming Rong, Gabriel.

I just want to let you know of the impact that you have made in our lives. It's so strong.

3C' 06 came back to school as 4C' 07. On the very first day of school, this was what we asked and said to each other:

Where's Beng Huat? We want Beng Huat! SOMEONE CALL HIM BACK! We need Beng Huat!

This is true and even until now we would still hear and say that in class. ( I know that it's rude to call you by your name, but we're desperate. ) You treated us a sumptuous meal of Pizza Hut and we were very grateful for that ; For not every teacher would do this kind of thing for his/her students. Some of us guessed that you might be leaving, but we hoped and wished that it wasn't true.

The makan session was great, but above all that you have done for us and bought for us, we would really want to say this:

We would gladly trade all those just to have you back in TK and to teach us, to father us till we graduate.

We're like eagles with wings but still can't fly properly, but like what you mentioned in the e-mail, we would spread our wings so wide and soar in the sky. We'll soar so high in the boundless skies.

Mr Tchen, we will never forget you and what you have done for us. You will always be living in the spirit of the class I hope that you're able and drop by and visit us sometime. ( Probably our graduation night? Come more often! )

Love,
Roderick & 3C' 06 & 4C' 07
